The purpose of a School Risk Assessment is to evaluate the threat to student and staff safety posed by the identified student. This assessment is used to help the school department determine appropriate action upon the student’s return to school. This evaluation does not decide whether or not a student should return to public school, it does not specify the type of program the student needs, and it does not offer a prediction of the student’s behavior upon returning to school. It provides a qualified statement of risk that the school department can use, along with other information, to help them decide the most appropriate course of action.
