<p>Soft skills are a combination of social skills, work habits, communication skills, character traits, and attitudes that enable people (and students in particular) to work well with others and manage the demands of learning and working. It is difficult to acquire the “hard skills” (e.g., learning to read, write, solve equations, understand basic principles of physics, etc.) if a student hasn’t developed the soft skills to enable the process of learning new things.</p>

<p>The BBTIPC Proficiency Scale is used to measure staff competency within and across all fourteen elements and complementary areas. Effective intervention teams will have people with a broad range of expertise across several of these areas. The proficiency scale is used to show who has expertise in specific areas, where proficiency within the team could use more growth, and it can also be used to measure changes in proficiency within and across teams following proficiency development efforts. <h3>Rubric Scale</h3>
<p>This is the rubric description to go with the <a href="http://kevinplummerphd.com/wp-content/uploads/Rating-of-Attention-Scale-n.pdf">Attention, Focus and Productivity Rating Scale</a> (also embedded here). This rubric can be used to explain the rating scale scores to parents and service providers and it can be used to write goals and objectives for IEPs. The rating scale itself is used to measure progress and performance.</p>
