<p>We must give serious thought to the stress and the emotional impact that working under pandemic conditions has created for educators, because they will be returning to the school buildings in the fall and the job cannot be done well by people who are worn out, burdened by stress, scarred by trauma and filled with feelings of guilt, regret and inadequacy.</p>

<p>No educator or clinician can be perfectly therapeutic all the time and students don&#8217;t require that. It is important, however, to be very aware, as a staff, of your current capacity to be therapeutic, and to take steps to take care of yourself. Staff wellness is critical to therapeutic quality and all therapeutic programs should provide opportunities for staff to address wellness.</p>
