Recess Plan

The Recess Plan is for those cases where the behavior is serious enough to warrant a removal from the recess yard for future recess periods, or in cases that are chronic (a student has a problem in a high percentage of recess periods) and the student has not responded favorably to getting lectured or yelled at or pulled out of recess to stand against the wall…

Plan B

Stabilizing a Difficult Day

This is a program option to consider when you feel students are seriously compromised in their capacity to function in their typical therapeutic setting (e.g., due to need for meds, an illness, a lack of sleep, a significant life disruption at home, etc.).

When we can’t move forward with a student, due to temporary circumstances, our goal is to avoid moving backward. That is the purpose of Plan B.

The Plus Five Approach to Therapeutic Intervention Programs

Students with emotional and behavioral disabilities are placed in behavior management and therapeutic programs to remediate a wide range of social/emotional deficits. If we were to create an arbitrary scale of functioning that places the typical child with typical social/emotional functioning at the “zero” point, representing “no deficits in need of treatment”, then children placed in behavior management and therapeutic programs would score on the negative side of zero, at -5 on a -5 to +5 scale (on the extreme end of poor functioning, many needs and deficits)…
